Chapter 260·Bharata begins to speak·Verses 1–
Hearing the sage's words and Rāma's attitude, seeing teacher and master gladly favourable, and seeing the whole weight on his own head, Bharata cannot speak and begins to reflect. His body thrilled, he stands in the assembly, the water of love rising in his lotus eyes. He says, 'The lord of sages has carried my part of the speaking; what more can I say than this? I know my master's nature: he is never angry even with an offender. To me he has shown special grace and love; I never saw him cross even in play. From childhood I never left his company, and he never broke my heart. I have watched the Lord's way of kindness in my heart: even when I lose a game, he lets me win.' Bound by love and shyness, he has never spoken face to face; his eyes, thirsty for love, are not yet satisfied with the sight, even today.
