Chapter 252·Days pass; Bharata sleepless with worry·Verses 1–
The townsfolk are so absorbed in love that the days pass like the blink of an eye. Sītā takes a form for each mother-in-law and serves each with equal respect. No one but Rāma saw the secret: all Māyā is within Sītā's Māyā. Sītā won her mothers-in-law with service, and they were glad and gave her teaching and blessings. Seeing the two brothers and Sītā so simple and good, the crooked queen repents fully. Kaikeyī begs the earth and Yama: the earth gives no gap and fate gives no death. Poets say it is known to the world and the Veda that those who turn from Rāma find no place even in hell. In every mind there is one doubt: will Rāma go back to Ayodhyā or not? Bharata has no sleep at night and no hunger by day, troubled in pure worry like a fish in mud when its water is shrinking.
