Chapter 249 · The company fears the order to return · Verses 1–

Hearing Rāma's words the company is afraid, like a ship in distress on the sea; then the teacher's auspicious reply is like a favourable wind. They bathe three times a day in the holy Payasvinī, the sight of which destroys heaps of sin. They gaze with full eyes at the auspicious figure of Rāma and bow gladly again and again. They go to see Rāma's hill and forest, where there is all happiness and no sorrow. Streams flow with water like nectar, taking away the three pains, and three kinds of breeze blow. Trees, creepers and grass of countless kinds bear fruit, flowers and leaves in many ways. There are lovely rocks and pleasant shade under the trees; who can describe the beauty of the forest? Lakes, lotuses and water birds are calling, bees humming, and deer and birds of many colours wander the forest free of enmity.
