रन रस बिटपु पुलक मिस फूला
Lakṣmaṇa says that Sahasrabāhu, Indra and Triśaṅku were all stained by the pride of kingship. Bharata, he says, has done well in one way: never leave even a trace of enemy or debt. He did one thing not good: he slighted Rāma, thinking him helpless, and that will be clear today when he sees Rāma's face in battle. Saying this, Lakṣmaṇa forgets the juice of policy; the tree of battle-joy flowers in the name of thrills. He bows to the Lord's feet, puts the dust on his head and speaks his natural strength. Do not take his words as improper; Bharata has done them wrong, and how long can he bear it with his bow in hand beside Rāma?
