भरत का गंगा-स्नान
Seeing Śṛṅgaverapura, Bharata's whole body goes limp with love. He comes to the sacred Gaṅgā with all his army and bows at Rāmaghāṭa, feeling as if he had met Rāma. The city people also bow, glad to see the water as Brahman itself. After bathing, they ask with folded hands for love for Rāma's feet. Bharata calls the Gaṅgā's dust the giver of all good to her servants, and asks one boon: natural love for the feet of Sītā and Rāma. Then, with his teacher's leave, he bathes and has the camp set up; the queens bathe too.शृंगवेरपुर को देखते ही भरत के सब अंग प्रेम से शिथिल हो गए। गंगा के दर्शन कर उन्होंने रामघाट पर प्रणाम किया और उनका मन ऐसा मगन हुआ मानो राम से मिल गए हों। नगर के लोग भी जल को ब्रह्ममय जानकर प्रणाम करते हैं और स्नान करके हाथ जोड़कर राम के चरणों में प्रेम माँगते हैं। भरत कहते हैं कि गंगा की रज सेवकों के लिए कामधेनु है, और हाथ जोड़कर एक ही वर माँगते हैं: सीता-राम के चरणों में स्वाभाविक प्रेम। फिर गुरु की आज्ञा से स्नान करके भरत ने माताओं को नहाया जानकर डेरे लगवाए।

इस प्रकार भरत ने पूरी सेना के साथ जाकर जगत को पवित्र करने वाली गंगा को देखा। रामघाट पर उन्होंने प्रणाम किया और उनका मन ऐसा मगन हुआ मानो राम से मिल गए हों।
In this way Bharata, with all the army, came and saw the Gaṅgā that purifies the world. He bowed at Rāmaghāṭa, and his mind was so lost in love that it seemed he had met Rāma.

३3करहिं प्रनाम नगर नर नारी। मुदित ब्रह्ममय बारि निहारी ॥करि मज्जनु मागहिं कर जोरी। रामचंद्र पद प्रीति न थोरी ॥

नगर के स्त्री-पुरुषों ने प्रसन्न होकर जल को ब्रह्ममय देखा और प्रणाम किया। स्नान करके हाथ जोड़कर वे माँगते हैं कि रामचन्द्र के चरणों में हमारी प्रीति थोड़ी न हो।
The men and women of the city bowed, glad to see the water as Brahman itself. After bathing they asked with folded hands: 'Let our love for Rāmacandra's feet be no small thing.'

भरत ने कहा, 'गंगा, तुम्हारी रज सेवकों को सब सुख देने वाली कामधेनु है। मैं हाथ जोड़कर तुमसे यही एक वर माँगता हूँ: सीता और राम के चरणों में स्वाभाविक प्रेम।'
