By fate Kaikeyī's trust took root, and she asked again, making Mantharā swear. Mantharā said: What can I tell you, you still do not know what is good and bad for yourself; even a beast knows it. A fortnight has passed in preparations and you learn it only today. You eat and wear from the king's wealth, so I do not blame myself if I speak the truth. If I tell you anything false, let fate punish me. If Rāma is anointed tomorrow, fate has sown the seed of your ruin. Drawing a line, I swear by my strength: you will be like a fly in milk. If you serve with your son, there is no other way to stay in this house.
