Chapter 184 · Everyone is moved · Verses 1–

Bharata's words please all, as if steeped in the nectar of love for Rāma. The people, struck by the terrible poison of parting, wake as if they heard a mantra with its seed-syllable. Mothers, ministers, guru, townsmen are all overcome with love. They praise Bharata again and again, saying he is the very body of love for Rāma. They say it is only right, for he is dear to Rāma as life. Any wretch who in his folly sings Kaikeyī's crookedness to Bharata will live with a crore of his line in hell for a hundred ages. A gem does not take on a snake's sins and faults; it takes away poison, sorrow and poverty. In the dohā they say they must surely go to the forest where Rāma is, for Bharata has given good counsel and given them support while they were sinking in the ocean of sorrow.

Bharata's words pleased everyone, as if steeped in the nectar of love for Rāma. The people, struck by the terrible poison of parting, woke up as if hearing a mantra with its seed-syllable.
