Chapter 182·Let the world say what it will·Verses 1–
Bharata says the guru, an ocean of wisdom to whom the whole world is like a jujube in the hand, is ready to crown him, but when fate turns away everyone turns away. With Rāma and Sītā left aside, everyone in the world will say it was his doing, and he will hear and bear it. In the end where there is water there is mud. He does not fear what the world will say, nor worry about the next world. One unbearable fire burns in his heart: for his sake Sītā and Rāma are suffering. He says Lakṣmaṇa won the good of life, giving up everything and setting his mind on Rāma's feet. His own birth served only Raghuvara's exile, so why does he falsely repent? In the dohā he tells everyone with bowed head of his terrible wretchedness: without seeing Raghunātha's feet, the burning in his heart will not go.

'The guru, known in the world as an ocean of wisdom, to whom the whole universe is like a jujube in the hand, even he is arranging the coronation for me. When fate turns away, everyone turns away.

With Rāma and Sītā left aside, there will be no one in the world who will not say it was my counsel. I shall hear it and bear it, counting it a joy. In the end, where there is water, there is mud.
Verse 3

I do not fear that the world will call me base, and I have no worry about the next world. In my heart there is one unbearable forest fire: because of me Sītā and Rāma have become unhappy.

Lakṣmaṇa won the good of life, who gave up everything and set his mind on Rāma's feet. My birth was only for Raghuvara's exile. Why do I falsely repent, unlucky as I am?

I tell all of you, with bowed head, my terrible wretchedness: without seeing the feet of Raghunātha the burning in my heart will not go.
