Bharata says the clever creator gave him whatever is fit for Kaikeyī's son, and gave him the empty fame of being Daśaratha's son and Rāma's younger brother. They all tell him to take the tilak, and the king's order seems good to all. He asks to whom and how he should answer, and asks them to speak freely as each likes. Leaving him with his wicked mother, who will say they have done good? Who in the world, moving and unmoving, other than himself, does not hold Sītā and Rāma dear as life? It is a great loss to all and a great gain for him, an evil day for him and no one's fault. They speak from doubt, kindness and love, and all they say is fitting. In the dohā he says that Rāma's mother, simple-hearted and specially loving toward him, speaks naturally out of love, seeing his lowly state.
