The two brothers weep in distress and Kausalyā holds them to her heart. She consoles Bharata in many ways with words full of wisdom. Bharata also consoles all the mothers with lovely tales from the Purāṇas and the Vedas. Then with folded hands he speaks pure, simple and honest words. He names the sins of those who kill mother, father or son, burn a cow-pen, a Brahmin or a city, kill a woman or child, or give poison to a friend or a king. He names all sins and lesser sins that poets say are born of deed, word and mind. He says let all these sins come to him, creator, if this was his counsel. The dohā adds: those who leave Hari and Hara and worship hordes of fearsome spirits: give him their fate, if he agreed to his mother's plan.
