Rāma tells Lakṣmaṇa that the bank is good and asks him to set up a dwelling somewhere. Lakṣmaṇa sees the north bank of the river curving like a drawn bow, with the river as its string and the hill as a hunter in ambush, so that no kill of sin escapes. He shows the spot, and Rāma is pleased. Knowing Rāma's mind is set on it, the gods and their chief builder come in the dress of Kols and Kirātas and make two lovely huts of leaves and grass, one small and graceful, one large. नदी इस धनुष की डोरी है; शम, दम और दान बाण हैं। कलियुग के सब नाना पाप इसके शिकार हैं। चित्रकूट मानो एक अचल शिकारी है, जिसका निशाना कभी नहीं चूकता और जो सामने से मुठभेड़ में मारता है।
The river is the bowstring, and self-control, restraint and giving are the arrows. All the many beasts of this Kali age's sin are the game. Citrakūṭa is like an unmoving hunter whose aim never misses, who strikes down his prey face to face.

ऐसा कहकर लक्ष्मण ने वह स्थान दिखाया। उसे देखकर राम को सुख हुआ। जब देवताओं ने जाना कि राम का मन वहाँ रम गया है, तो वे अपने प्रधान शिल्पी के साथ चले।
So saying, Lakṣmaṇa showed the place. Rāma looked at it and was happy. When the gods knew that Rāma's mind had settled there, they came with their chief builder.
