Chapter 127·Valmiki on Rāma's play·Verses 1–
You are the watcher of the world's show, and Brahmā, Viṣṇu and Śiva are the ones you make dance. Even they do not know your secret; who else can know you? He alone knows to whom you give knowledge; knowing you, he becomes you. By your grace alone, Rāma, devotees, sandalwood of their hearts, come to know you. Your body is joy and knowledge itself, free of change; the qualified know it. You take a human body for the sake of the good and the gods, and you speak and act like an ordinary king. Rāma, seeing and hearing your deeds, fools are bewildered and the wise are glad. All that you say and do is true; as the part is taken, so the dance must be. The dohā: you asked me where you should stay; I am shy to ask you in return where you are not; tell me, and I will show you a place.
