Chapter 117·Sītā answers with her eyes·Verses 1–
The women say: they put a million Loves to shame; fair-faced one, tell us who they are to you. Hearing the loving, sweet words, Sītā was shy and smiled inside. She looked at them and then at the ground, shy on both sides, lovely in her shyness. A deer-eyed girl with a cuckoo's voice, Sītā spoke sweetly and lovingly: this fair-bodied one, so naturally good, is called Lakṣmaṇa, my younger brother-in-law. Then, covering her moon-like face with her veil, she looked at her husband and, with a bent brow, told with her eyes that this was her lord. All the village brides were glad, as if beggars had looted a king's wealth. The dohā: very lovingly they fell at Sītā's feet and blessed her in many ways: may you be a happy wife always, as long as the serpent holds the earth on his head.
