Chapter 115·Their beauty on the road·Verses 1–
Some bring a pot of water and say softly: Lord, wash your mouth. Hearing the kind words and seeing the great love, Rāma the gracious was very pleased. Knowing that Sītā was tired, he stayed a moment under the banyan. The men and women watched his beauty with joy: a form without likeness, that drew their eyes and minds. With fixed eyes they all shine on every side, as chakora birds on the face of Rāmacandra, the moon. His body like a young tamāla tree shone, and seeing it a million Loves are bewitched. Lakṣmaṇa, lightning-coloured, was very fair, lovely from nail to head, dear to the heart. Bark cloth at the waist, quivers tied on, and in lotus-like hands the bow and arrows. The dohā: matted-hair crowns on lovely heads, broad chests, arms and eyes, faces like autumn moons, shining with drops of sweat.
