Chapter 104·Guha asks to stay with Rāma·Verses 1–दोहा 104

Hearing the Gaṅgā's blessing, Sītā was glad. Then Rāma told Guha to go home; hearing this, Guha's face dried up and his heart burned. In a humble voice he said, with folded hands: Jewel of the Raghus, hear my plea. Let me stay with you, show you the way and serve your feet for four days. Wherever you live in the forest, I will build a lovely leaf-hut. Then, whatever command you give me, I will do, I swear by Raghubīr. Seeing his natural love, Rāma took Guha with him, and his heart glowed. Then Guha called all his kinsfolk and sent them home content. The dohā: remembering Gaṇeśa and Śiva, and bowing to the Gaṅgā, Raghunātha entered the forest with his friend, brother and Sītā.गंगा के वचन सुनकर सीता प्रसन्न हुईं और गंगा के अनुकूल हुईं। तब प्रभु ने गुह से कहा कि घर जाओ; यह सुनते ही उसका मुँह सूख गया और हृदय जल उठा। गुह ने हाथ जोड़कर दीन वचन कहे: रघुकुल के मणि, मेरी विनती सुनिए। आपके साथ रहकर रास्ता दिखाऊँगा और चार दिन आपके चरणों की सेवा करूँगा। जिस वन में आप जाकर रहेंगे, वहाँ मैं सुन्दर पर्णकुटी बनाऊँगा। फिर आप जैसी आज्ञा देंगे, रघुवीर की दुहाई, मैं वही करूँगा। उसका सहज स्नेह देखकर राम ने गुह को साथ ले लिया, उसके हृदय में उल्लास हुआ। फिर गुह ने अपने सब जातिवालों को बुलाया और संतुष्ट करके बिदा किया। दोहा: गणेश और शिव का स्मरण कर, गंगा को माथा नवाकर, रघुनाथ मित्र, भाई और सीता सहित वन में चले।

गंगा के मंगलमय वचन सुनकर सीता प्रसन्न हुईं, गंगा उनके अनुकूल थीं। तब प्रभु ने गुह से कहा, 'घर जाओ।' यह सुनते ही उसका मुँह सूख गया और हृदय जलने लगा।
Hearing the Gaṅgā's words, which are the root of all good, Sītā was glad, for the river was kind to her. Then the Lord told Guha, 'Go home.' Hearing this, his mouth dried up and his heart burned.

२2दीन बचन गुह कह कर जोरी। बिनय सुनहु रघुकुलमनि मोरी ॥नाथ साथ रहि पंथु देखाई। करि दिन चारि चरन सेवकाई ॥

गुह ने हाथ जोड़कर दीन वचन कहे, 'रघुकुल के मणि, मेरी विनती सुनिए। आपके साथ रहकर मार्ग दिखाऊँगा और चार दिन आपके चरणों की सेवा करूँगा।
Guha said, humbly, with folded hands, 'Hear my plea, jewel of the Raghus. Let me stay with you, show you the way, and serve your feet for four days.

३3जेहिं बन जाइ रहब रघुराई। परनकुटी मैं करबि सुहाई ॥तब मोहि कहँ जसि देब रजाई। सोइ करिहउँ रघुबीर दोहाई ॥

जिस वन में आप रहने जाएँगे, वहाँ मैं सुन्दर पर्णकुटी बनाऊँगा। फिर आप जैसी आज्ञा देंगे, रघुवीर की दुहाई, मैं वही करूँगा।'
In whatever forest you go to live, I will make you a lovely leaf-hut. Then whatever command you give me, I will do it, I swear by Raghubīr.'

४4सहज सनेह राम लखि तासु। संग लीन्ह गुह हृदय हुलासू ॥पुनि गुहँ ग्याति बोलि सब लीन्हे। करि परितोषु बिदा तब कीन्हे ॥

Seeing his natural love, Rāma took Guha with him, and Guha's heart was glad. Then Guha called all his kinsfolk, satisfied them and sent them home.

तब गणेश और शिव का स्मरण करके और गंगा को माथा नवाकर रघुनाथ मित्र, भाई और सीता सहित वन में चले।
Then, remembering Gaṇeśa and Śiva and bowing his head to the Gaṅgā, Raghunātha went into the forest with his friend, his brother and Sītā.
