Nārada's body thrills and his eyes fill as he hears Rāma's sweet words. How kind the Lord is, with such care and love for his servant. Those who do not worship such a Lord, giving up their doubts, are poor in knowledge and unlucky. Nārada then asks respectfully: Raghuvīra, destroyer of the fear of birth and death, tell me the marks of saints. Rāma says he will tell the virtues by which he lives in their power. A saint has conquered the six faults, is sinless, without desire, steady, owns nothing, clean, a home of happiness. He has boundless understanding, wants nothing, eats little, holds truth as his essence, and is a poet, a wise man and a yogi. He is careful, gives honour, is free of pride, patient, and very skilled in the way of dharma. A home of virtues, free from the sorrow of the world and from doubt, he has loved my lotus feet so much that he has no body and no house.रघुपति के सुहावने वचन सुनकर मुनि का शरीर पुलकित हो गया और आँखों में जल भर आया। कैसी है प्रभु की यह रीति, जो सेवक पर ममता और प्रीति रखते हैं। जो ऐसे प्रभु को भ्रम त्यागकर नहीं भजते, वे ज्ञान के कंगाल, मंद और अभागे हैं। फिर आदर से नारद बोले, हे विज्ञान में निपुण राम, सुनिए। हे भव का भय हरने वाले रघुवीर, नाथ, संतों के लक्षण कहिए। राम ने कहा, मुनि, मैं संतों के वे गुण कहता हूँ जिनके कारण मैं उनके वश में रहता हूँ। संत छह विकारों को जीत चुके हैं, निष्पाप, निष्काम, अचल, अकिंचन, पवित्र और सुख के धाम होते हैं। उनका बोध असीम है, वे इच्छा रहित, थोड़ा खाने वाले, सत्य को सार मानने वाले, कवि, पंडित और योगी होते हैं। वे सावधान रहते हैं, दूसरों को मान देते हैं, मद रहित, धीर और धर्म की राह में परम निपुण होते हैं। गुणों के घर, संसार के दुःख से रहित और संदेह से परे, मेरे चरण-कमलों को छोड़ किसी और से उनका प्रेम नहीं होता, उनके लिए न देह है न घर।
