अवगुन मूल सूलप्रद प्रमदा
Hearing it, Nārada says that the Purāṇas, Vedas and saints call woman the spring of the forest of delusion. Prayer, austerity and rules are a lake, and woman is the summer that dries it. Lust, anger, pride and envy are frogs, to whom she is the one happy rainy season. Evil thoughts are a mass of night lilies, to which she is always the pleasing autumn. All the groups of dharma are lotuses, and she is the winter frost that burns them to ruin. Self-interest is like a thick growth of weeds that thrive in her cold season. Sin is a flock of owls, and she is the thick dark night that pleases them. Wit, strength, virtue and truth are all fish, and the wise call woman their fishing-line. Woman is the root of all faults and the giver of pain, a mine of sorrow, and so the sage was kept from her.यह सुनकर नारद बोले कि पुराण, श्रुति और संत कहते हैं कि मोह रूपी वन के लिए नारी वसंत है। जप, तप और नियम रूपी तालाब को वह ग्रीष्म ऋतु बनकर सब सुखा देती है। काम, क्रोध, मद और मत्सर मेंढक हैं; इन्हें हर्ष देने वाली वही एक वर्षा है। दुर्वासना रूपी कुमुद के समूह के लिए वह सदा सुख देने वाली शरद है। सब धर्म कमलों के समूह हैं; उन्हें वह हिम होकर जला देती है और सुख मंद कर देती है। ममता रूपी जवासा बहुत है, वह नारी रूपी शिशिर ऋतु पाकर हरा-भरा होता है। पाप उल्लुओं के समूह हैं; उन्हें सुख देने वाली वही घनी अँधेरी रात है। बुद्धि, बल, शील और सत्य सब मछलियाँ हैं; चतुर लोग स्त्री को उनके लिए बंसी के समान बताते हैं। स्त्री सब अवगुणों की जड़, पीड़ा देने वाली और सब दुःखों की खान है; इसलिए, हे मुनि, मैंने तुम्हें उससे बचाया।

यह सुनकर मुनि बोले, 'पुराण, श्रुति और संत कहते हैं कि मोह रूपी वन के लिए नारी वसंत है। जप, तप और नियम रूपी जलाशय को वह ग्रीष्म बनकर सब सुखा देती है।
Hearing this, the sage said: 'The Purāṇas, Vedas and saints say that to the forest of delusion woman is spring. Prayer, austerity and rules are a pond, and woman is summer and dries it all up.

२2काम क्रोध मद मत्सर भेका। इन्हहि हरषप्रद बरषा एका ॥दुर्बासना कुमुद समुदाई। तिन्ह कहँ सरद सदा सुखदाई ॥

All dharma is a bed of lotuses, and woman is the frost that burns them and gives them pain. Again, self-interest is a thick growth of jawāsā, which turns green when the cold season comes, and woman is that season.

४4पाप उलूक निकर सुखकारी। नारि निबिड़ रजनी अँधिआरी ॥बुधि बल सील सत्य सब मीना। बनसी सम त्रिय कहहिं प्रबीना ॥
pāpa ulūka nikara sukhakārī nāri nibiṛa rajanī am̐dhiārī |budhi bala sīla satya saba mīnā banasī sama triya kahahiṃ prabīnā ||

स्त्री अवगुणों की जड़, पीड़ा देने वाली और सब दुःखों की खान है। हे मुनि, यही हृदय में जानकर मैंने तुम्हें उससे रोका।
