केहि बिधि अस्तुति करौ तुम्हारी
Śabarī stands with folded hands and her love grows on seeing the Lord. She asks how she can praise him, for she is of low birth and dull. She says even among the lowest the woman is lowest, and she most dull. Rāma answers that he knows only the bond of devotion. Birth, family, dharma, greatness, wealth, strength, kin, virtue and cleverness: a man without devotion looks like a cloud without water. He then tells her of the nine kinds of devotion and asks her to listen with care. The first is the company of saints; the second is love of stories about him; the third is serving the teacher's lotus feet, free of pride; the fourth is singing his qualities without deceit.शबरी हाथ जोड़कर आगे खड़ी हुई; प्रभु को देखकर उसकी प्रीति बहुत बढ़ी। वह बोली कि मैं नीच जाति की जड़बुद्धि आपकी स्तुति किस तरह करूँ? अधम से भी अधम स्त्री होती है, और उनमें भी मैं मन्दबुद्धि पापी हूँ। रघुपति ने कहा, भामिनी, मेरी बात सुन: मैं केवल भक्ति का नाता मानता हूँ। जाति, पाँति, कुल, धर्म, बड़ाई, धन, बल, परिजन, गुण और चतुराई, इन सबके होते हुए भी भक्ति से हीन मनुष्य कैसा लगता है? जैसे बिना जल का बादल। मैं तुझे नौ प्रकार की भक्ति कहता हूँ, सावधान होकर सुन और मन में धर। पहली भक्ति संतों का संग है, दूसरी मेरी कथाओं में प्रेम, तीसरी अभिमान रहित होकर गुरु के चरण-कमलों की सेवा, और चौथी कपट छोड़कर मेरे गुणों के समूह का गान।

वह हाथ जोड़कर आगे खड़ी हो गई; प्रभु को देखकर उसकी प्रीति बहुत बढ़ी। 'मैं आपकी स्तुति किस प्रकार करूँ? मैं नीच जाति की और बहुत जड़बुद्धि हूँ।
She stood in front of him with folded hands, and her love grew as she looked at the Lord. 'How shall I praise you? I am low-born and very dull.

२2अधम ते अधम अधम अति नारी। तिन्ह महँ मैं मतिमंद अघारी ॥कह रघुपति सुनु भामिनि बाता। मानउँ एक भगति कर नाता ॥

अधम से भी अधम स्त्री होती है, और उनमें भी मैं मन्दबुद्धि पापिन हूँ, हे अघहारी।' रघुपति ने कहा, 'भामिनी, मेरी बात सुन: मैं केवल एक ही नाता मानता हूँ, भक्ति का।
Among the lowest the woman is lowest, and among them I am dull-minded, O destroyer of sin.' Raghupati said, 'Listen to what I say, wise lady. I recognise only one relation, that of devotion.

३3जाति पाँति कुल धर्म बड़ाई। धन बल परिजन गुन चतुराई ॥भगति हीन नर सोहइ कैसा। बिनु जल बारिद देखिअ जैसा ॥

जाति, पाँति, कुल, धर्म, बड़ाई, धन, बल, परिजन, गुण और चतुराई, इन सबके होते हुए भी भक्ति से हीन मनुष्य कैसा लगता है? जैसे बिना जल का बादल।
Caste, family, dharma, greatness, wealth, strength, kin, virtue and cleverness: how does a man look who lacks devotion? Like a cloud without water.

४4नवधा भगति कहउँ तोहि पाहीं। सावधान सुनु धरु मन माहीं ॥प्रथम भगति संतन्ह कर संगा। दूसरि रति मम कथा प्रसंगा ॥

तीसरी भक्ति अभिमान छोड़कर गुरु के चरण-कमलों की सेवा है, और चौथी कपट छोड़कर मेरे गुणों के समूह का गान करना है।
The third devotion is serving the teacher's lotus feet, without pride. The fourth is to sing my many virtues, giving up deceit.
