Rāvaṇa tells Mārīca the whole story in his pride, and asks him to turn into a false deer, so that he can carry away the king's wife. Mārīca says: those two are men in form but lords of all that moves and does not, so make no enmity with them. He lives or dies as they choose. Once when the boy Rāma went to guard a sage's sacrifice, he struck him with an arrow without a head, and he was thrown a hundred leagues in a moment. Since then he sees both brothers everywhere, as an insect becomes a wasp by thinking of it. Even if they are men they are brave, and no one who opposes them will come off whole.
