Genuine Tantric practitioners deliberately used concealment techniques like chetak-maya-vidya to keep esoteric rituals hidden from uninitiated observers — but as pseudo-practitioners later used lower acts and commercialized initiations under the guise of Tantra, public criticism grew, worsened by colonial-era suppression that pushed authentic teachings further into secrecy.
