The goddess asks for the divine armour of Mātaṅgī that gives every siddhi to men, and Īśvara teaches it, to be kept secret and repeated in silence. Its sage is Dakṣiṇāmūrti, its metre virāṭ, its deity Mātaṅgī, its use the four aims of life. Then goddess after goddess guards the body: Mātaṅginī the head, Bhuvaneśī the eyes, Totalā the ears, Tripurā the face, Mahāmāyā the throat, Māheśvarī the heart, Tripurā the sides, Kāmeśvarī the anus, Caṇḍī the thighs, Ratipriyā the shins, Mahāmāyā the feet, Kuleśvarī every limb, Vaiṣṇavī limb and part, Mātaṅgī by name the crown, Mahāpiśācinī the forehead and the back of the face, Sumukhī the eyes and nose, Lajjā the teeth and lips, the three ṭha the chin and throat, the visarga the heart, Lolā the navel, Kālikā the eyes, Cāmuṇḍā the belly, Kātyāyanī the sex, Ugratārā the anus, Ambikā the feet, Śarvāṇī the arms, Caṇḍabhūṣaṇā the heart and Mātṛkā the tongue; Puṣṭikā, Vijayā, Medhā, Śraddhā, Lakṣmaṇā, Mātaṅgī, Sureśī, Bagalā, the goddess and Vaśinī guard the east, south, west, south-west, north-west, north-east, south-east, north, above and below. The mantra is then drawn out — praṇava, māyā, the kāma bīja, kūrca, "Mātaṅginī" with the dative ending, and svāhā — the eleven-and-a-half-syllable vidyā that guards everywhere. Called Trailokyamaṅgala, hard even for the gods, it makes its reciter a home of fortune and unequalled lordship, and recited after worship of the guru brings lordship, poetry and mastery of speech, with Mātaṅgī herself as his wife working his good; Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Rudra and the gods, brahmarākṣasas, vetālas, grahas and bhūtas are shamed before him; wearing it he gains every siddhi, makes kings his servants and masters the six rites. Whoever worships Mātaṅgī without it is short-lived, poor and foolish; with devotion to the guru and firm faith in the armour, Mātaṅginī grants him every siddhi.
