Hanumān's hymn to Rāma, called the hymn made of the king of mantras. He bows to Rāma as Ugra, the fierce, whom even the animals headed by Sugrīva came together to call king; as Vīra, the hero who at the sea-shore gave Vibhīṣaṇa the kingdom for a single act of surrender; as Mahāviṣṇu, the great one, pervading, the nectar of compassion in the great ocean, praised by Jaṭāyu; as Jvalanta, the blazing, by whose splendour fire and the rest blaze, who shines independent; as Sarvatomukha, who in battle showed his face on every side to the warriors of the rākṣasa king; as Nṛsiṃha, who like a lion among creatures destroys the human state of those who take refuge in him; as Bhīṣaṇa, the terrible, of whom wind, sun, fire, Indra and death are afraid and who spreads fear among sins; as Bhadra, the kind, who gives everlasting welfare out of his own generosity without asking whether the other is worthy; as Mṛtyumṛtyu, the death of death, who slays the death of his servants; as Namanīya, the lord of all the gods, by bowing at whose lotus feet one becomes the highest person. Casting off self-conceit he serves Rāma daily with Sītā and Lakṣmaṇa; the servants of Rāma are served by the servants of Yama, the directions are auspicious for him and the siddhis are his handmaids.
