श्रीनन्दकुमाराष्टकम्

Nandakumara Ashtakam — Eight verses to the son of Nanda
Author Ācārya Vallabhācārya Verses 8

Every line is a heap of small epithets, and the metre rushes through them with an inner rhyme, so that the hymn is sung rather than read. Between the heaps comes one call, bhaja nandakumāram, worship Nanda's son. The epithets move through the whole of Krishna's life in Vraja, from the butter in his hand to the serpent under his foot.

सुन्दरगोपालं उरवनमालं नयनविशालं दुःखहरं
वृन्दावनचन्द्रमानन्दकन्दं परमानन्दं धरणिधरम् ।
वल्लभघनश्यामं पूर्णकामं अत्यभिरामं प्रीतिकरं
भज नन्दकुमारं सर्वसुखसारं तत्त्वविचारं ब्रह्मपरम् ॥ १॥
