Fourteen long verses in praise of Caṇḍī, who is Durga as the slayer of the buffalo demon. The first verses are a plea: stay in my mind, let my name go or stay, only let my thoughts rest on your feet. The middle verses picture her on the field of battle, dark, many-armed and laughing, and the last verses name the gains that come to those who meditate on this form and recite the hymn.

हे चण्डी, दुराचारी प्रचण्ड असुरों को चूर करने वाली, मेरे चित्त में विहार करो। असह्य भय और द्रोह की लहरों से मर्म को घायल करने वाली आपदाओं को स्वेच्छा से चीर दो। उससे उपद्रव रहित होकर मेरा मन रूपी हंस तुम्हारे अनुपम श्रीचरण-कमलों के वन में पाए आनन्द रस के सागर में चिरकाल तक आनन्द करे।

English sense

Move in my mind, O Caṇḍī, you who crushed the wicked and violent demons. Freely tear apart the calamities that wound my vitals with waves of unbearable fear and malice. Untroubled by that, may the swan of my mind long rejoice in the ocean of the nectar of bliss that is reached in the forest of your matchless, glorious lotus-feet.

O Caṇḍī, if any syllable or word about you has entered the ear, that is the truth in accord with puruṣa and prakṛti, which Brahmā and the rest sing. Therefore, O goddess, regard me today as one intent on kissing your shining, glorious lotus-feet, the one abode of the essence of nectar for all the gods.

एवं ये तव देवि मूर्तिमनघां ध्यायन्ति दुर्गादिभिः शक्राद्यैरभिपूजितां परपुरक्षोभादिकं कुर्वते ।
राज्यं शत्रुजयः सदर्थधिषणा काव्यामृतादर्शनस्तम्भोच्चाटनमारणादिकृतिनां तेषां स्वयं जायते ॥१३॥

evaṃ ye tava devi mūrtimanaghāṃ dhyāyanti durgādibhiḥ śakrādyairabhipūjitāṃ parapurakṣobhādikaṃ kurvate
rājyaṃ śatrujayaḥ sadarthadhiṣaṇā kāvyāmṛtādarśanastambhoccāṭanamāraṇādikṛtināṃ teṣāṃ svayaṃ jāyate

हिन्दी अर्थ

हे देवी, जो इस प्रकार दुर्ग आदि में इन्द्र आदि से पूजित तुम्हारी निर्दोष मूर्ति का ध्यान करते हैं, वे शत्रु नगरों का क्षोभ आदि कर देते हैं। काव्य-अमृत के दर्शन और स्तम्भन, उच्चाटन, मारण आदि कर्मों में कुशल उन लोगों को राज्य, शत्रु पर विजय और सत्य अर्थ की बुद्धि अपने आप मिल जाती है।

English sense

Those who thus meditate, O goddess, on your faultless form, worshipped in forts and elsewhere by Indra and the gods, accomplish the shaking of enemy cities and the like. For them — accomplished in the vision of the nectar of poetry and in stupefying, uprooting, killing and the other rites — kingship, victory over enemies and understanding of true meaning arise of themselves.

This hymn of yours, composed by me through attentive meditation on the pair of your lotus-feet by the kula method of mantra extraction, and secretly taught — if any hear or recite it, O goddess, wealth, liberation, desire and all the rest swiftly come into their hands.
