Jagannatha Ashtakam — Eight verses to the Lord of Puri

Each verse ends with the same line, asking that Jagannātha, the lord of the world, come into sight. Between the refrains the poet moves from the groves of Vṛndāvana to the temple on the blue hill by the sea, then to the plain prayer of the last two verses: no kingdom, no wealth, only that the Lord take away the weight of worldly life.

English sense

Sometimes, in the groves on the bank of the Kālindī, his song rings out. Gladly he is a bee, drinking from the lotus faces of the cowherd women. His feet are worshipped by Ramā, Śambhu, Brahmā, the lord of the gods and Gaṇeśa. May Jagannātha, my Lord, come into my sight.
