Chidambara Ashtakam — Eight verses to the liṅga of Chidambaram

Chidambaram is where Shiva is worshipped as the lord of the dance. This hymn, in the swinging toṭaka metre, looks past the dance to the liṅga itself, and every verse closes on the same line: tan mṛdu pātu cidambaraliṅgam. It is modelled on the more famous Lingashtakam and keeps its form, a refrain after a run of names.

जन्मजरामरणान्तकलिङ्गम् ।
कर्मनिवारणकौशललिङ्गं
तन्मृदु पातु चिदंबरलिङ्गम् ॥ १॥
