Bhagavati Stotram — Victory to you, Goddess, giver of boons
Author Vyāsa Verses 6, toṭaka (verses 1–5), anuṣṭubh (verse 6) metre

Every line of this short hymn opens with the same word, jaya: victory to you. The Goddess is greeted as the giver of boons, the one who wears the skulls of Śumbha and Niśumbha, the one who crushed Mahiṣa, and the one honoured by Brahmā, Viṣṇu, the Sun and Indra. The last verse says that she is always pleased with whoever recites it, in a pure state, at home. See also Durga and Shiva.

English sense

Victory to you, Goddess Bhagavatī, I bow to you, giver of boons. Victory to you, destroyer of sins, giver of many rewards. Victory to you, bearer of the skulls of Śumbha and Niśumbha. I bow to you, Goddess, who take away people's pain.
