The Shivling's complete mandala worship — including its Argha, Nandi, serpent, and trident — is held to include the worship of every deity in the universe, so daily Shiva abhishekam alone is considered sufficient.
Consume water consecrated with a mastered Kavacham, the Argha runoff water from a Shivling, or the Charanamrita of Lord Sri Hari Narayana, ingested on an empty stomach after daily worship to purge the ingested toxic astral impurities.
It may be kept without a base (Argha) in the Bhairava aspect if that is the devotee's sentiment, since Bhairava is an aspect of Shiva; a Shiva Lingam must still receive daily water Abhishek, sacred marks (Tripundra/Tilak), and a crown or Bilva/flower offering on top.
Light three ghee lamps (for Shiva, Parvati, and Kubera), place the wrapped root and coin near the Jaladhari during Abhisheka, collect any Bilva leaf that falls onto it, then complete 27+27+27 Malas of the Samputita recitation in a quiet corner before returning the items to the Arghi.
Incense, lamps, food offerings, bathing deities, Havan, and full festival celebration are not permitted, but Mansopchar (mental worship), Surya Arghya, and Shradh at pilgrimage sites remain allowed.
