श्रीविष्णुषट्पदी

Vishnu Shatpadi — A short prayer to Viṣṇu for a quiet mind

The first verse is the whole prayer: take away my pride, tame my mind, quiet my thirst for sense pleasure, and carry me across. The third is the best known: even if every difference between us is gone, I am yours and you are not mine, as the wave is the sea's and the sea is never the wave's. The seventh closes with a pun. Ṣaṭpadī is a poem of six lines and also a bee, and the wish is that this bee will always live in the lotus of the singer's mouth.
