त्रिपुरसुन्दर्यष्टकम्

Tripurasundari Ashtakam — Eight verses to the Goddess of the kadamba forest

Seven of the verses end on the same refrain, tripurasundarīm āśraye, I take shelter in Tripurasundarī. The picture is of Tripurasundari as the mistress of a house in the kadamba forest, wife of Shiva, with the wives of Indra, Brahmā and Viṣṇu serving her as maids and hairdressers. Verse 5 calls her the daughter of Mataṅga, which links her to Matangi; the six lotuses of verse 4 are the centres of the body used in meditation.
