Three bows to Hanuman: Tulsīdās's soraṭhā from the opening of the Rāmcaritmānas, the śloka that opens his Sundarkāṇḍa, and an old verse that calls Hanumān the jewel in the garland of the Rāmāyaṇa. Many people say them as a short invocation before the Chālīsā.

English sense

I bow to the son of the Wind, a fire to the forest of the wicked, wisdom itself. In the house of his heart lives Rāma, holding bow and arrow.

I bow to the son of the Wind. He is the home of matchless strength, with a body bright like a golden mountain. He is a fire to the forest of demons, first among the wise. He is the treasure of all virtues, lord of the monkeys, the dear devotee of Raghupati.
