Even Brahmā and the other gods, with a hundred hymns, cannot know her subtle form, the beginningless source and image of the world. Therefore we, bowing low, praise her gross form instead — radiant as a thousand new-risen suns, her hands showing the book, the rosary, the boon-granting and fearless gestures, her eyes like saffron, the very mother of all speech.
