# OccultGuide

> Actual verses of Hindu scriptures — tantra, jyotiṣa, dharmaśāstra, purāṇa and vāstu — in Devanagari and IAST with plain English and Hindi translations; a computed Hindu calendar for any city; and an attributed English index of what Hindi-speaking teachers teach. Built so that verses, dates and teachings can be quoted from a source instead of from memory.

Nothing on this site is sold: no paid remedies, no practitioner referrals, no payment from any source for coverage. The maintainer is a software engineer, not a guru; the About page says so plainly.

## Scriptures

Each work below is our own reconstructed Sanskrit text, collated verse by verse from several printed witnesses, with our translation. It may differ in places from any single print. Chapters are released on a schedule; the counts are what is released today.

- [Kulārṇava Tantra](https://occultguide.com/scripture/kularnava-tantra): 2,058 verses in 17 chapters. Reconstructed text, collated from 2 witnesses, including Tāranātha Vidyāratna, 1917.
- [Tantrāloka](https://occultguide.com/scripture/tantraloka): 1,889 verses in 8 chapters. Reconstructed text, collated from 3 witnesses, including Mukunda Ram Shastri and Madhusudan Kaul Shastri, 1918–1938.

Every verse has its own anchor (`/scripture/{work}/{chapter}#v{n}`) and a JSON form (`/scripture/{work}/{chapter}/v{n}.json`) with the Sanskrit, IAST, padapāṭha, translations and explanation. 2 stotras are published alongside under /stotra.

## Hindu calendar

Pañcāṅga for any city, computed (dṛk gaṇita, Lahiri ayanāṁśa, sunrise decides the day) through 2036, and 49 festivals and vratas resolved by rule, with the convention that decided each date. See /panchang, /calendar and /method#panchanga.

## Teachers' notes

447 recorded talks, mostly Hindi video, transcribed and broken into 11,048 question-level notes, each citing the recording it came from; 554 topic tags, and a Sanskrit/Hindi glossary of 846 terms. These report what a teacher said; the teaching is theirs. Sources disagree, and the differences are kept rather than resolved.

- A date: give the city and the convention with it.
